Rose Bowl Classic 2026 Rules
1. The Rose Bowl Classic (RBC) is a mixed competition open to men and women. The tournament is limited to the first 30 registered teams of 4. 2. The RBC will be a USBC-sanctioned and IGBO-affiliated tournament and maintains a Moral Support Sanction for non-members of USBC. This means there is no additional charge for non-USBC members. Non-USBC members who wish to qualify for USBC awards may purchase a USBC membership for $30.00 (men or women). 3. The RBC abides by all USBC rules. Please familiarize yourself with the rules regarding bowling equipment and any other applicable USBC regulations. 4. The receipt and acceptance of an entry by the RBC Committee shall regulate the number of players who participate. There will be no refunds after acceptance by the RBC Registrar. 5. Entries must be accompanied by the full amount of fees as outlined on the entry form. RBC accepts cash, personal checks (through May 15th), and the following electronic payments PayPal, Venmo, or Zelle. (Please refer to the Registration for electronic payment information.) 6. A 3.5% processing fee per bowler will be added for PayPal and Venmo payments to cover processing fees. Bowlers must send an accompanying email specifying for whom and for which team the fees are being submitted. 7. A $35.00 fee will be charged for bounced/NSF checks. 8. A team shall consist of four (4) members in any combination of men and women, competing on an equal basis in each event. 9. Partial teams or single entries that do not designate a desired team or teammate on the entry form will be assigned by the Registrar. Once assigned, no changes may be made. Doubles partners must come from the same team. 10. To ensure that your team bowls together, please submit all team information and all fees together. 11. The RBC is a nine-game event. All entrants will bowl only once in each event. 12. The RBC Committee reserves the right to use substitute bowlers in emergency situations. A substitute may have already bowled in a similar previous event. However, a substitute may cash only once per pre-scheduled event (Doubles or Team). 13. Only bowler’s paid and registered scores will be valid for determining Singles All Events. Rose Bowl Classic 2026 Rules 14. Substitutes are allowed at the Tournament Director’s discretion. A substitute must provide accurate and immediately verifiable proof of average as outlined in these rules. 15. Late bowlers will begin bowling in the frame in which they are ready to bowl. All prior frames will be scored as zero. No practice balls will be allowed for late bowlers. 16. If an event has officially started, a team may request that a substitute immediately replace a missing or late bowler. If a suitable substitute is available, one will be provided. The missing or late bowler forfeits their entry fee for that event. 17. Team captains must check in for their teams at least 30 minutes prior to the start of each event. 18. All claims of error must be submitted in writing within 30 minutes after the event ends. 19. Cash Prizes: Each event will have its own prize list based on a minimum 1:12 ratio of return. 20. Any additional events or options offered by the RBC are fun events described elsewhere on the entry form. Participation is optional. These add-on events are typically not USBC-sanctioned. Any issues that arise will be resolved by the Tournament Directors, Committee, and/or the bowling establishment.
Tournament Averages
1. Verification of all bowlers’ entering averages must accompany the entry form. Entries submitted without average verification may be returned without processing. The return of an entry may impact date-sensitive entry fees, potentially increasing the base fee. Waiting for a master list of league averages from a league secretary does not fulfill this requirement. 2. The RBC Registrar will verify all submitted averages. The USBC-sponsored site and/or the IGBO league and tournament average site will be used for verification. 3. Any bowler who has won a prize of $300 or more in a single event within the past 12 months must report their actual scores, finishing position, and amount won at the time of entry. Failure to do so may result in disqualification. 4. All bowlers are encouraged to review the average adjustment requirements of USBC Rule 319e. 5. Two years of averages are required: o 2025–2026 average and/or o 2024–2025 season-end average, or Summer 2025 averages with 18 or more games. 6. Handicaps will be calculated at 90% of the difference between 230 scratch and the entering average. Negative handicaps will not apply. 7. Sport Bowling USBC Rule 205 will apply. A bowler must submit and use their adjusted Sport Bowling League average utilizing the USBC Average Adjustment Scale (see Rule 202a) if this average is higher than their sanctioned league average. Failure to comply may result in disqualification. Rose Bowl Classic 2026 Rules 8. To qualify, an average must be based on 21 or more league games. The average used shall be the highest of: A) Highest average as of April 1, 2026; or B) Highest season-end average from the 2024–2025 season (minimum 21 games); or C) Season-end average from Summer League 2025. 9. If no qualifying league average exists as outlined above, the entering average will be set at 230 scratch with zero (0) handicap. 10. The RBC will accept an IGBO Tournament Average of at least 21 games if 21 games exist by the May 1 deadline. Please see Rule #5 for unusual exceptions. 11. It is each bowler’s responsibility to verify the accuracy of their average, whether submitted by the bowler, team captain, or others. Failure to report and use the correct average may result in disqualification unless corrected during registration prior to bowling. 12. All averages, team lineups, and other pertinent scoring or lane information must be corrected within 48 hours of receipt of the bowler confirmation email sent by the Tournament Registrar. 13. Failure to contact the Registrar within that timeframe will result in a $5.00 late processing fee on registration night. This fee is intended to minimize last-minute changes, which often result in scoring or lane assignment errors. 14. The RBC occurs shortly after IGBO Annual Tournament. Therefore, the Registrar may be delayed in confirming averages, possibly until the week of the tournament.
15. Once an application is received, the Tournament Directors or
a committee member will notify you of its receipt. |
